Repositories
From openSUSE Community Wiki
There are a few third-party software repositories available that provide many more packages, as well as some non-free formats which may be of use. We recommend that you enable these to get a fuller Operating System experience with openSUSE.
We tend to recommend enabling:
- The full online openSUSE repositories
- The Packman repository

Enabling the Repositories
The following links below are guides on how to add the repositories in your respective openSUSE version:
- For openSUSE 11.3, see Repositories/11.3
- For openSUSE 11.2, see Repositories/11.2
- For openSUSE 11.1, see Repositories/11.1
After you have followed the guide there you will want to take a look at the Restricted Formats page for setting up the relevant codecs.
Mirrors
Throughout the tutorials/instructions on these pages we are going to be adding all package repositories using skynet's excellent mirror (http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/), so that you will get faster download rates. You can however choose a mirror closer to you for each package source, and there's a handy list available at the links above.
Build Service
Note also that there are many repositories available through the openSUSE Build Service. Information on adding package repositories from the build service can be seen at Build_Service/User.
Web Package Search
There is a complete and comprehensive search of:
- the online openSUSE repositories
- openSUSE Build Service
- Packman repository
