SUSEhelp
From openSUSE-Community
SUSEhelp is a choob bot (which is developed by Warwick's CompSoc) maintained by BenJIman, and is used in several #suse / #opensuse* channels.
[edit] Basic Factoid Usage
The bot comes complete with many factoids, which are quick notes about particular things. All factoids are of the form:
!factoid
So, for example, if I wanted information about different codecs, I would enter:
<someuser> !codecs <SUSEhelp> For multimedia and other restricted format (MP3,Encrypted DVD, DiVX,etc) issues, see http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats
..and it will respond accordingly.
These factoids are also searchable, simply:
!search somefactoid
You can get a complete listing of these factoids online at http://benjiweber.co.uk/susehelpfacts.
[edit] Package Search
You can use !pin to quickly search for packages, which uses http://packages.opensuse-community.org. So, for example:
!pin amarok
You can also use !packman to search for packages in the Packman repository.
!packman amarok
[edit] Other usage
The bot can also do many other things. This includes:
- Search Google! Simply:
!google foo
- Tell you the last time someone was seen in #suse. Simply:
!seen someone
- Can give you stock and currency info. Example usage:
!stockquote XYZ !convert 1 EUR to USD
